About SafeInstinct

4 questions

What is SafeInstinct?

SafeInstinct is a cybersecurity and privacy awareness training platform for organizations. It provides a catalog of 21 short online trainings, assigns them to employees, tracks completion and quiz scores, and gives administrators reporting for compliance evidence.

SafeInstinct is delivered as a web application. Employees take trainings in a browser; there is nothing to install for the Standard plan.

Who is SafeInstinct for?

SafeInstinct is built for small and mid-sized organizations that need employee security awareness training without a dedicated security team to run it. Self-serve signup covers teams from 1 to 199 users, and the Enterprise plan covers 200 or more.

The people who typically administer SafeInstinct are IT managers, operations leads, office managers, and business owners — not full-time security staff.

What problem does SafeInstinct solve?

SafeInstinct addresses the gap between knowing about security requirements and acting on them. Most breaches begin with an ordinary employee action — clicking a phishing link, reusing a password, approving a fraudulent payment request — so SafeInstinct trains those specific decision points rather than teaching abstract security theory.

SafeInstinct also produces the completion records and audit trail that customers, insurers, and auditors ask for as evidence that training took place.

What language is SafeInstinct training available in?

SafeInstinct trainings and the SafeInstinct platform interface are currently available in English only. There is no built-in translation or language-selection feature, and trainings are not currently dubbed or subtitled in other languages.

Organizations that need training in additional languages should contact SafeInstinct through safeinstinct.com/contact to discuss availability before purchasing.

Ways to try SafeInstinct

4 questions

What is the difference between the SafeInstinct demo, the free plan, and the free trial?

SafeInstinct offers three separate ways to evaluate the product, and they are not the same thing:

  • Live demo: an instant sample workspace pre-loaded with 12 fictional employees, trainings, and completion history. It shows the full administrator view. It lasts 14 days, needs no credit card and no password, and is opened by emailing yourself a sign-in link from safeinstinct.com/demo. The data is fake.
  • Free plan: a real, permanent SafeInstinct account for one person, with the 3 Foundations trainings assigned. It has no expiry date and no credit card. It covers a single user only, so it cannot be used to train a team.
  • Free trial: a 14-day guided pilot in which the SafeInstinct team sets up a real workspace with your actual employees. It requires no credit card and is requested through a form at safeinstinct.com/free-trial.

In short: the demo is for looking around with sample data, the free plan is for one real person permanently, and the free trial is for piloting with a real team for 14 days.

What is included in the SafeInstinct free plan?

The SafeInstinct free plan includes the three Foundations trainings — Security Awareness Fundamentals, Understanding Cyber Threats, and Security Awareness for Managers — assigned and ready as soon as the account is activated. It also includes quizzes, scoring, and personal training history.

The SafeInstinct free plan covers one person, requires no credit card, and does not expire. Training a team, adding the agent, or building custom trainings requires a paid plan.

How long is the SafeInstinct free trial, and does it need a credit card?

The SafeInstinct free trial runs for 14 days and does not require a credit card. It is requested through the form at safeinstinct.com/free-trial, and the SafeInstinct team replies within one business day to set the workspace up with your real employees.

Nothing is charged when the trial ends. An account that does not convert simply stops being accessible; subscribing is an explicit action.

What happens when I request a SafeInstinct demo?

Requesting a SafeInstinct demo sends a sign-in link to the email address entered at safeinstinct.com/demo. Opening that link loads a demo workspace containing sample employees, assigned trainings, and completion history, viewed through the same dashboard paying customers use.

The SafeInstinct demo requires no password and no payment details. The link can be reused for 14 days to return to the same workspace.

Plans and pricing

6 questions

What plans does SafeInstinct offer?

SafeInstinct offers four plans:

  • Free: the 3 Foundations trainings for one person, permanently, at no cost.
  • Standard Training: the full catalog of trainings for every employee, with an admin dashboard and completion tracking.
  • Adaptive Risk-Based Training: everything in Standard, plus a lightweight agent that reports which apps and browser extensions each employee uses, AI-personalized training paths built from those signals, and up to 10 custom trainings generated from your own prompts.
  • Enterprise: everything in Adaptive, plus SSO (SAML/OIDC), automated SCIM provisioning, guided integration by the SafeInstinct team, volume pricing, and priority support with a named point of contact.

How much does SafeInstinct cost?

SafeInstinct is priced per user per month and billed annually. Standard Training starts at $2.40 per user per month and falls to $1.45 at higher volumes. Adaptive Risk-Based Training starts at $3.50 per user per month and falls to $2.20.

All trainings are included in the price. SafeInstinct does not charge separately for individual modules, and new modules are added at no extra cost. Current rates are shown on the pricing calculator at safeinstinct.com/pricing.

How does SafeInstinct volume pricing work?

SafeInstinct prices in brackets that begin at 1, 10, 25, 50, and 100 users. Every seat is billed at the rate of the highest bracket the team qualifies for — the rate is not applied in mixed tiers.

For example, a 30-user organization pays the 25-user bracket rate on all 30 seats, not the 1-user rate on the first 24 and a lower rate on the rest.

How is SafeInstinct billed and paid for?

SafeInstinct rates are quoted per user per month and charged annually. Self-serve payment is handled through Stripe checkout, and the account unlocks automatically once the payment succeeds.

Adding seats mid-term may create additional charges under the account's billing model. Reducing seats generally applies going forward and does not create an automatic credit. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

What is the largest team that can sign up for SafeInstinct online?

SafeInstinct self-serve signup covers up to 199 users. Organizations with 200 or more users are served by the SafeInstinct Enterprise plan, which is arranged by contacting the SafeInstinct team rather than through online checkout.

Enterprise is also the right plan for any organization that needs SSO or automated user provisioning, regardless of size.

Can I upgrade from the SafeInstinct free plan to a paid plan?

Yes. A SafeInstinct free-plan account upgrades from the Billing page inside the application: choose the number of seats and the plan, then complete Stripe checkout. The account converts to the paid plan automatically once payment goes through.

Training history from the free account is preserved through the upgrade.

The training catalog

5 questions

How many trainings does SafeInstinct include, and what do they cover?

SafeInstinct includes 21 core trainings organized into 7 categories: Foundations, Threats & Attacks, Identity & Access, Data & Privacy, Devices & Networks, Emerging Risks, and Workplace & Process.

Topics include phishing and email threats, ransomware and malware, business email compromise, social engineering, passwords and password managers, multi-factor authentication, least privilege, GDPR, CCPA, data classification, device and mobile security, remote and travel security, safe browsing, deepfakes and synthetic media, responsible AI use, IoT security, incident reporting, and physical security.

How long does a SafeInstinct training take to complete?

Most SafeInstinct trainings take 15 minutes. The longer compliance modules run to 30 minutes for GDPR Essentials, 25 minutes for CCPA Essentials, and 20 minutes for Data Handling & Classification.

SafeInstinct trainings are designed to be completed in a single sitting rather than as multi-hour annual courses.

Do SafeInstinct trainings include quizzes and pass marks?

Yes. SafeInstinct trainings include quizzes, and administrators set the passing score when assigning a training. Scores, completion status, and attempt history are recorded per employee and available in reporting.

Administrators also set a due date and a repeat frequency for each assignment, so recurring annual or quarterly training happens without being re-created by hand.

Does SafeInstinct charge extra for new training modules?

No. New SafeInstinct training modules are added to the catalog at no extra cost and become available to existing customers on their current plan. SafeInstinct does not sell modules individually or as add-ons.

Can SafeInstinct create training specific to my organization?

Yes. The Adaptive Risk-Based Training plan includes up to 10 custom trainings generated from a written prompt describing the policy, tool, or scenario the training should cover. Custom trainings are private to the organization that requested them.

Custom trainings are not available on the SafeInstinct free plan or the Standard Training plan.

Adaptive training and the SafeInstinct Agent

4 questions

What is SafeInstinct Adaptive Risk-Based Training?

SafeInstinct Adaptive Risk-Based Training personalizes each employee's training path based on the software they actually use, instead of assigning the same modules to everyone. A lightweight agent reports which applications and browser extensions are present on the employee's device, and SafeInstinct uses those signals to prioritize the relevant trainings.

The training path re-adapts as new signals arrive, so an employee who installs a new tool or extension can receive training that reflects that change.

What data does the SafeInstinct Agent collect?

The SafeInstinct Agent reports an inventory, not activity. Specifically it collects:

  • Device information: device name, platform, operating system version, hostname, and agent version.
  • Installed and running applications: application name, version, and identifier, with counts of how often each was seen installed or running.
  • Browser extensions: the extensions present in the browsers on the device.

The SafeInstinct Agent does not record keystrokes, capture screenshots, read file contents, monitor messages, or log the web pages an employee visits. It reports what software is present, not what the employee does with it.

What operating systems does the SafeInstinct Agent support?

The SafeInstinct Agent is available for macOS and Windows. Both versions are downloaded from within the SafeInstinct application by an account administrator.

The SafeInstinct Agent is only used by the Adaptive Risk-Based Training and Enterprise plans. The free plan and Standard Training plan do not use an agent, and nothing needs to be installed on employee devices to use them.

Is installing the SafeInstinct Agent required?

No. The SafeInstinct Agent is optional and only relevant to Adaptive Risk-Based Training. Every SafeInstinct training can be assigned, taken, and reported on without it; the agent only adds the signals used to personalize training paths.

An Adaptive account without the agent installed still works as a full training platform, but assignments will not be tailored to real device signals.

Setup, accounts, and reporting

5 questions

How long does it take to set up SafeInstinct?

A SafeInstinct account can be created and have training assigned on the same day. There is no deployment project and no professional-services engagement for self-serve plans: sign up, invite employees by email, and assign a training to everyone or to a specific team.

The SafeInstinct Enterprise plan includes guided onboarding, where a SafeInstinct implementation specialist configures SSO and provisioning with the customer's IT team.

What account roles does SafeInstinct have?

SafeInstinct has two customer-facing account roles. Owners administer the company: they manage teams, invite users, assign trainings, and see reporting and billing. Employees take the trainings assigned to them and see their own history.

SafeInstinct staff administrators exist separately for platform support and are not part of a customer's seat count.

How do SafeInstinct seats work?

One SafeInstinct seat covers one person who can be assigned training. A seat is consumed by an active user or by a pending invitation, and the account shows used, invited, and available seats.

Adding users beyond the purchased seat count requires increasing seats, which may create an additional charge under the account's billing model.

How are SafeInstinct trainings assigned to employees?

SafeInstinct trainings are assigned by an owner to the whole company, to a specific team, or to an individual employee. Each assignment carries a passing score, a due date, and a repeat frequency for recurring training.

SafeInstinct emails employees when training is assigned and sends reminders as a due date approaches. Employees can also be organized into teams so that invitations, assignments, and reporting stay separated by department.

What reporting does SafeInstinct provide?

SafeInstinct reports completion rates, quiz scores, in-progress and overdue trainings, and per-employee history, and reports can be exported. An audit log records account activity for compliance evidence.

Reporting is available to owners on every paid SafeInstinct plan, including Standard Training.

Enterprise, SSO, and phishing simulation

4 questions

Does SafeInstinct support SSO and automated user provisioning?

Yes, on the SafeInstinct Enterprise plan. SafeInstinct Enterprise supports single sign-on over SAML and OIDC, plus automated SCIM provisioning so employees are created, updated, and deactivated from the customer's identity provider.

With SCIM provisioning, offboarding in the identity provider revokes SafeInstinct access automatically, and directory groups can drive training assignments. SSO and SCIM are not available on the free, Standard, or Adaptive plans.

Does SafeInstinct run phishing simulations?

Yes. SafeInstinct phishing simulation is a managed program rather than a console the customer operates: the SafeInstinct team designs and schedules the campaigns and reports the results, with quarterly reporting that includes department trends and risk scores.

SafeInstinct phishing simulations never collect real credentials. Employees who fail a simulation are assigned follow-up training automatically, without being singled out publicly.

What does SafeInstinct Enterprise onboarding include?

SafeInstinct Enterprise onboarding assigns a dedicated implementation specialist rather than a support queue. That specialist configures SSO and provisioning with the customer's IT team, handles user and organizational-structure migration, and runs a phased rollout with a named point of contact.

SafeInstinct Enterprise also includes volume pricing and priority support.

Can managed service providers resell SafeInstinct?

Yes. SafeInstinct has a partner program for managed service providers and resellers, who manage multiple client accounts under one login with client accounts kept separate for invitations, assignments, and reporting. Details are at safeinstinct.com/partners.

Privacy, data, and terms

5 questions

What personal data does SafeInstinct collect about employees?

SafeInstinct collects contact data (name, email, company, job-related details), account data (username, encrypted password data, role, company membership), training data (assignments, progress, completion status, assessment scores, due dates), and technical data (IP address, browser type, device information, and basic log data).

SafeInstinct does not sell personal information. Data is shared only with service providers that operate the platform, with the customer's own designated administrators, with legal authorities where required by law, and with a successor in a merger or acquisition subject to lawful safeguards. The full policy is at safeinstinct.com/privacy-policy.

Does SafeInstinct help with GDPR and CCPA compliance?

Yes, for the awareness-training and record-keeping part of it. SafeInstinct includes dedicated GDPR Essentials (30 minutes) and CCPA Essentials (25 minutes) trainings plus a Data Handling & Classification module, and it records completion evidence that can be exported for auditors.

SafeInstinct provides training and training records, not a legal compliance certification. Completing SafeInstinct training does not by itself make an organization GDPR- or CCPA-compliant.

What is the SafeInstinct refund policy?

Fees paid to SafeInstinct are non-refundable except where required by law. Because of that, SafeInstinct offers the 14-day demo workspace, the permanently free plan, and the 14-day free trial so an organization can evaluate the product before paying.

Full commercial terms are at safeinstinct.com/terms-of-sales.

How do I cancel a SafeInstinct subscription?

A SafeInstinct subscription is cancelled by turning off auto-renewal from the Billing page in the application. The account keeps full access until the end of the paid term and then becomes read-only rather than being deleted immediately.

Auto-renewal can be turned back on from the same billing portal.

How do I contact SafeInstinct?

SafeInstinct is reached through the contact form at safeinstinct.com/contact, which routes questions by topic: sales and pricing, enterprise SSO and provisioning, partners and MSPs, product support, and billing. SafeInstinct replies within one business day.
